Srinagar, November 10th – In a shocking development, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Srinagar has reported that 18 children are missing from an orphanage located in the heart of the city. This news comes as the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Srinagar sealed the unregistered Al-Miskeen Yateem Trust for operating unlawfully.

Dr Khair-un-Nisa, the chairperson of CWC Srinagar, revealed that the committee had previously visited the Al-Miskeen Yateem Trust at Nundreshi Colony in Srinagar several times, urging the head of the Trust to fulfill the requirement of being registered under the Juvenile Justice Act (JJA). “Despite being given a one-month deadline, the Trust failed to obtain registration,” she stated.

Disturbingly, the committee discovered that 18 children were missing from the trust during their recent visit. The whereabouts of these children remain uncertain. The Trust premises were found locked, intensifying concerns regarding their disappearance.

Taking immediate action, the SDM of Srinagar has sealed the Al-Miskeen Yateem Trust due to its unauthorized operation. Dr Nisa emphasized the urgency of the situation by insisting that all 18 missing children must be presented before the committee without delay.

“This unregistered Trust was running illegally, leading to the shocking circumstances we are facing today,” Dr Nisa expressed with concern. The CWC is determined to uncover the truth behind the missing children and ensure their safety.
